Digital Defence provides software to encrypt and protect data whilst enabling other applications and users (after being authenticated) to access the encrypted data on the mobile device as they would any (unencrypted) data. This is achieved by altering the system at device driver level so that any data access is intercepted by Digital Defence to be encrypted or decrypted in real time.
Mobile device platforms no longer provide access for third party developers to insert device drivers to alter the system behaviour. This prevents Digital Defence from developing software that runs at kernel level to provide real-time access to encrypted data through a data filter driver. With a commitment to our partner channel we have decided to migrate our solution into a Security Module which is FIPS approved and can be utilised as an SDK by Mobile Application Developers.
Our solution for Xamarin is currently at the concept stage. The Encryption SDK solution for the Xamarin platform will provide the capability to create third-party cross-platform compatible applications integrating FIPS compliant data protection.
Based on our research, we have determined that there is a need to secure cryptographic functionality in the Xamarin development environment. This provides flexible key management to provide a robust endpoint encryption infrastructure across a mobile deployment. This will be developed as a SDK which is based on a FIPS compliant security module and will available to Xamarin developers through an annual license.
